"You're not the only survivor around here."
—Dante Rivas to Juliette Barnes
"I know what he was. And I know what he is now: Dead to me."
—Juliette Barnes

Dante Rivas was Jolene Barnes' one-time sober sponsor who ended up becoming romantically involved with Juliette Barnes.

Biography[]

He is introduced in the episode Dear Brother as Jolene Barnes' sober sponsor. He soon becomes Juliette Barnes' manager as well as developing a romantic relationship with her, much to Jolene's annoyance.

After Avery Barkley catches him having sex with Juliette on her tour bus, Dante confronts him and warns him that he should have knocked (which he did) and fires him on the spot. Dante is eventually confronted by Deacon, who tells him he doesn't have the right to fire staff.

Dante later proves to be an ill-suited sober companion, and an embezzler after taking advantage of the opportunity to become her short lived manager. Juliette and he do some house hunting, before it's revealed by Jolene that he was kissing the realtor. Both he and the realtor deny this, saying they are friends and that he used to be her sponsor. However, it is later revealed after he disappears, that he stole money from Juliette's petty cash and corporate account, close to half a million dollars. Dante threatens to release a SD card with footage of him having sex with Juliette unless he gets paid for his services. First it is $2 Million, then he increases that to $10 Million in an effort to extort her before her much anticipated CMA awards show, in which she was recently nominated.

In order to save her daughter's reputation, Jolene purchases a gun and drugs and invites Dante to meet her. She turns the gun on him and kills him, before destroying the SD card and consuming more drugs, committing suicide. Before she overdosed, she called Juliette to tell her not to do the interview with GMA, where she was going to reveal the revenge porn plot against her, in an effort to avoid being blackmailed by Dante. Juliette later learns from a letter in the mail, that her mother did this to save her from further scandal.
